The role can be located in Warsaw or in Poznan.
Join Allegro as an Engineering Manager for the Vento product team.
Vento (internal product) is a system for managing the lifecycle of clickstream event contracts. It provides a centralized framework for defining, validating, monitoring, routing and consuming event data. By ensuring schema compatibility, Vento streamlines collaboration between data producers and consumers, making your event-driven architecture reliable and easy to maintain. It is also a solid foundation for Allegro’s cutting edge AI and agentic ecosystem.
Your main responsibilities:
-
People leadership & development: Coaching, mentoring, and supporting a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of 5-6 engineers.
-
Architectural & business alignment: Maintaining a holistic view of the platform architecture, ensuring that engineering solutions support the broader business context and platform goals through shared ownership.
-
Technical mentorship: Guiding and enabling the team to effectively integrate and leverage AI-assisted coding and AI-based user support tools.
-
Stakeholder partnership: Collaborating closely with cross-functional business partners (Marketing, Loyalty, Sales) and technical stakeholders, including the Data Assets teams and the Data Platform Product Manager.
-
Product vision & strategy: Co-creating the vision for the Vento product alongside the team, users, and stakeholders, implementing modern product management guidelines to maximize collective value across the company.
-
System sustainability: Supporting and sharing the team's on-call rotation framework to ensure the long-term stability and reliability of our event processing pipeline.
This is the right job for you if:
-
You are an experienced engineering leader: You have a proven background in nurturing engineering teams, combined with technical experience that enables you to guide and facilitate sound architectural decisions.
-
You have a broad technical understanding: You possess comfort and orientation across data ecosystems, including Big Data (Python, Scala, Spark), Backend (Java/Kotlin) and Frontend environments.
-
You enjoy collaborative impact: You are enthusiastic about supporting your team's core deliverables while contributing to shared organizational initiatives that shape Allegro’s data and AI ecosystem.
-
You are proactive: You have a natural tendency to transparently share early insights, potential bottlenecks, or structural risks to ensure collective success.
-
You meet the language requirements: You are fluent in Polish (essential for effective daily collaboration with our team) and speak English at a minimum B2 level.
-
You value operational readiness: You are open to participating in the team’s rotating on-call support framework to ensure continuous system reliability.
What we offer:
- Flexible working hours in the hybrid model (4/1) - our hours can start between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. We also have 30 days of occasional remote work.
- Long term discretionary incentive plan based on Allegro.eu shares (restricted stock units).
- Annual bonus based on your annual performance and company results.
- Well-located offices (with e.g. fully equipped kitchens, bicycle parking, terraces full of greenery) and excellent work tools (e.g., raised desks, ergonomic chairs, interactive conference rooms).
- A 16" or 14" MacBook Pro or corresponding Dell with Windows (if you don't like Macs) and all the necessary accessories.
- A wide selection of fringe benefits in a cafeteria plan - you choose what you like (e.g., medical, sports or lunch packages, insurance, purchase vouchers).
- English classes that we pay for related to the specific nature of your job.
- A training budget, inter-team tourism (more here), hackathons, and an internal learning platform where you will find multiple trainings.
- An additional day off for volunteering, which you can use alone, with a team, or with a larger group of people connected by a common goal.
